How to Get Your Video to “Go Viral”

Video camera in useWith Valentines Day right around the corner, you have a prime opportunity to create a video campaign that will go viral in a heartbeat, according to Chris Schreiber of Sharethrough, a social video advertising company.

Schreiber says when millions of people are sharing the same positive experience, like the traditions or customs that surround a holiday, content featuring that holiday also has a good chance of being shared.

Schreiber offers four tips to get your holiday video to “go viral.”

1- Tap into the Shared Experience
Be sure to include shots of the customs people experience during the holiday – making valentines, getting flowers, eating chocolate hearts.

2-Go For Laughs
Holidays can be somewhat stressful so funny videos that provide comic relief tend to be shared.

3-Steal a Page From Hallmark and Go Sentimental
Videos that tap into moments or experiences that evoke positive emotions have a good chance of being shared.
If a video makes the viewer feel good, they will often want to pass that good feeling along.

4-Reward People for Sharing Your Video
Offer a discount or premium if they “like” or share your video.
Ask your viewers to play along and add their own holiday videos to your page.
