Youtube is a social network and the second largest search engine. To compete, your business must have content in YouTube.

More than 48 hours of video are uploaded to YouTube every minute. More video is uploaded in two months than the three major U.S. networks (ABC, CBS, NBC) combined created in six decades.

And people are searching for informational videos. Billion view days are common now and one day this year YouTube passed 3 billion views. That’s the equivalent of nearly half the world’s population watching a YouTube video each day or every U.S. resident watching at least nine videos a day.

Video is the most effective way to position yourself as the authority in your field. (As a a television producer, I can tell you, nothing builds credibility like video.) The combination of YouTube’s viral nature and valuable video content can put you head and shoulders above another established web presence in your niche. These days, Web-video need not cost an arm and a leg to be effective.

As a producer, I’ve spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on green screen work for television. But digital video has changed that. I recently made a green screen video for a client with a $150 camera and free software that came with my computer. You could do the same thing.
